In just 18 months, Matt Corby has transformed himself from a 16-year-old singer on Australian Idol, to an artist who has developed his own unique brand of folk / rock.
 
He has worked with such luminaries as Sasha Skarbek (James Blunt) and McGowan Southworth (Ben Lee) and has spent time in the UK and US working on the tracks which are sure to gain him widespread critical  acclaim, and will place him amongst the country¹s leading young song writers.
 
June 2009 saw the release of Song For ...,  Matt¹s first release since signing with Scorpio Music in Autumn 2008.
 
The EP has been a result of two years of writing and development for Matt since finishing 2nd on Australian Idol in 2007. Choosing to shun the spotlight and instead focus on developing his craft, Matt has travelled as far afield as New York and London writing songs, playing shows and experiencing life on the road.
 
Song For... is an eclectic mix of raw, ambitious material; a blend of folk & rock music which showcases Matt's diverse talent and writing skills.

Matt co-­produced the album with Mcgowan Southwarth (John Legend / Ben Lee)  and plays a diverse range of instruments on the album including banjo, glockenspiel, keys, bass and guitar.
 
Matt Corby celebrated the release of Song For... with a number of shows in NSW & QLD in June & July, followed by another trip to  London to work on new material for his debut album which is due to be released in 2010.
